The Pope’s Choice

73 x 73cm
2019
Oil on canvas

In 2018, the Pope delivered a printed card to church officials. The photo was taken in 1945 in Nagasaki after the atomic bomb was dropped. There is a boy waiting in turn at the crematorium to have his younger brother burned. The Boy who were unhappy like many civilians were symbolized for anti-war after more than 70 years. What did the Pope who met this picture want to spread to everyone? What do we Japanese feel about this news?
